Our school is dedicated to high academic standards and a comprehensive curriculum program as outlined in the Victorian Curriculum F-10.
Our program aims to challenge, motivate and ensure that all students feel a sense of success and progress.
All school programs are based within state guidelines and provide every student with equal access to educational experiences. These learning activities are designed to be challenging, have a purpose and be broad enough so that all students will feel a sense of success and progress.
We understand that all children have something to contribute, all learn from each other, all learn best in a stimulating environment and that learning is best achieved by being actively involved in the learning process.
We also provide practical support for those with learning difficulties and extra enrichment for talented students and those with diverse abilities.
Reading, writing and oral language are at the core of our curriculum and provide a balanced literacy program for all students. Classrooms are focused on differentiated learning with explicit teaching enabling students to develop and become independent and self directed learners.
Our teaching strategies have a strong evidence-base, including the growing evidence of the importance of oral language and phonics in the teaching of literacy. This is supported by the school's commitment to the "Systematic Synthetic Phonics" phonemic spelling program, a whole school program which is essentially a knowledge and understanding of the sounds and sound patterns in our language. This helps to get our students thinking about how words are formed and written and helps them develop strategies when reading and writing.
